Community day: Saturday 10th May

Thank you so much for expressing an interest in our fourth community event on Saturday 10th of May, 2025. We hope this page helps to answer any questions you may have, but please reach out to us at hello@grangeproject.co.uk if there’s anything we haven’t covered. (SIGN UP BELOW).

What’s the plan for the day?

We are fortunate to have a number of modern barns that provide excellent shelter from the elements. We will be utilising these for all of our refreshment breaks and as a base to return to at any point during the day. There will be a portaloo available for volunteer’s use.

What will I be doing?

There are a diverse range of tasks to get involved with this community day. Whether you’re interested in a physical challenge, growing or surveying, there is something for everyone.

Activities will include, but not limited to:

  • Physical Challenge - We need to remove an internal fence line or approximately 100m, to help enhance the wildness in our camping field and allow free passage for wildlife. There are also wood chip paths to create across the market garden, perfect for a sense of tangible impact!

  • Growing - With eighteen raised beds and twelve strip beds to plant out, there will be lots of opportunity to get your hands dirty (and learn about self-sufficient growing while you’re at it).

  • Surveying - Long-time followers of the project will be aware just how excited we are about the impact our pigs have been having across the landscape. Help us survey the floral diversity created by their activities (no ID skills necessary, we will use imagery and apps to help us!)

Are you providing refreshments?

Absolutely. We really value your time and know that providing a range of delicious and locally sourced home-cooked food will help morale to remain high! We also believe sharing food and drink together is an important part of connecting as a community. Vegan and vegetarian options will be provided as standard.

How do we get to you?

15 minutes drive from Monmouth and 20 minutes from Abergavenny along the B4233, plus we are more than happy to collect people from our nearest train station (Abergavenny).
