Grange Charity
Increasing nature connectivity
We believe that every young person should be nature literate; you can’t care about what you don’t understand or experience. Through connecting with wilder nature we want young people to learn to read the natural world around them, to recognise our interconnectivity with the wider ecosystem and to consider the role we have as custodians of this planet.
Furthermore, we have become increasingly disconnected from the source of our food, how it is grown and the implications for our health and the planet. Through our market garden, orchard and polytunnel, we are keen for young people to experience the joy of cultivating and harvesting their own nutrient dense foods.
We are also interested in developing bespoke sessions for more vulnerable members of the population, whether that’s young people not currently in education or children in care. Our academic system inevitably ends up rewarding a particular set of skills and abilities, at the Grange Project we believe in the importance of holistic learning and the power of creative and practical activity outdoors.
At this current stage, we are recruiting trustees to help shape the vision of the Grange Charity. If you might be interested, please reach out.
Our aspiration is to work in collaboration with schools across the region, to develop a range of educational programmes that can easily embed into the Welsh curriculum, supplemented by visits to the rewilding site. Across Key Stages 1 to 5, we want young people to leave the Grange Project with new knowledge and skills, as well as having experienced the many benefits of time outdoors
Please contact us on hello@grangeproject.co.uk if you’re an educator in the region interested in working with the project.
